  Camshafts:   

 Skunk2 Racing camshaft profiles are designed using the latest computerized valvetrain and modeling techniques to maximize horsepower and torque. Our camshafts are designed utilizing years of racing experience. These camshaft blanks are cast from the same foundries used by auto manufacturers such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi, and utilize the latest in Japanese chill-casting technology. Skunk2 Racing camshafts are ground to exact specification using CNC cam grinding machines and are subjected to hours of performance and durability testing. Skunk2 Racing camshafts must pass stringent quality control standards that exceed OE requirements.

Stage I: Stage I profiles are designed to offer the widest possible powerband and be compatible with factory valvetrain components. These camshafts are designed to retain stock idle and are currently CARB EO-pending. Upgrading to Skunk2 Racing valve springs is recommended. Stage I profiles are relatively easy to tune for maximum power output.

Stage II: Stage II profiles are more aggressive than Stage I profiles, and are designed for modified engines operating at higher rev ranges. Upgrading to Skunk2 Racing valvetrain components is required for proper operation. Stock idle and emission characteristics may be slightly compromised, but fair-to-good driveability allows them to still be used on dual-purpose vehicles. Proper tuning, an upgraded intake system, and an exhaust system are required in order to maximize the potential of these camshafts. Do not use oversized valves.

Stage III: Stage III profiles are designed for purpose-built race engines with high-rpm capabilities only! Upgrading to Skunk2 Racing valvetrain components and extensive engine work is required for the proper functioning of these camshafts. Compression and engine flow must also be significantly increased. Stage III camshafts should be installed and tuned by professional engine builders only! Do not use oversized valves.

Turbo: Turbo profiles are designed for engines with forced induction. Aggressive lift and valve opening/closing motions allow these cams to maximize power with a minimum amount of overlap. Each profile is designed with extensive input from the top racers in the sport compact industry.

Valves

Skunk2 Racing valves are made from SAE EV8 stainless one-piece forgings, which are then heat-treated using a proprietary heat treatment process. After CNC-machining and swirl polishing, a PVD black nitride coating is applied to reduce friction and increase wear resistance. Skunk2 Racing valves are lightweight, durable, and offer excellent heat and corrosion resistance. Skunk2 Racing valves are available in standard and high compression styles and also in various sizes. Oversized valves should not be used with standard size valve seats or with Stage II and III VTEC camshafts.

 

Valve springs 

Skunk2 Racing valve springs are made from the highest quality chrome silicone wire from Japan. These valve springs are designed from our experiences in touring car and drag racing. The dual interference fit valve spring design prevents harmonics and valve float. All valve springs are race tested and proven and can be used with both forced induction and naturally aspirated engines.

Retainers

Skunk2 Racing retainers are CNC-machined from the strongest aerospace quality titanium and are designed to significantly reduce overall valvetrain mass. Skunk2 Racing retainers are machined to extremely close tolerances in order to ensure properly installed spring heights and pressures.

Intake Manifold

The most restrictive part of any induction system is the factory intake manifold. Knowing this, Skunk2 Racing went to great lengths to design and manufacture an appropriate aftermarket replacement. Skunk2 Racing manifolds are designed to maximize flow as well as increase the effects of wave scavenging at each engine's key operating RPM range. Each manifold is designed to use all the stock sensors and auxiliaries.

Cam gears 

Adjustable cam gears allow engine tuners to optimize horsepower and torque by adjusting camshaft timing. All adjustable cam gears are CNC-machined from AL7075-T6 billet aluminum. The 6-bolt design eliminates any chance of slippage, while the hard-anodized finish prevents premature wear. The timing marks are laser-etched and each offer over +/- 10 of adjustment. Skunk2's cam gear design has been proven on race cars in the most extreme conditions, and has proven to be the most reliable cam gear on the market.

Stainless steel exhaust header 

Each exhaust header is constructed from T-304 stainless steel. These headers feature fully polished tubing and flanges. All headers are designed and engineered to maximize exhaust flow to increase horsepower and torque.

Exhaust system  

 Mega Power cat-back systems are constructed from T-304 stainless steel and feature Japanese Super-N1design and styling. Each exhaust is mandrel-bent using properly sized tubing for maximum flow and is finished off with a low restriction racing muffler. Most mufflers feature a single 102mm polished tip with an acid-etched Skunk2 Racing badge. Systems are available in standard and full-polished finishes. Each system comes complete with a removable silencer and all necessary hardware. Mega Power universal mufflers are also available separately.
